Indoor Talk: Birding in Hokkaido
Wednesday, 30th September, 2015
- Time: 20:00
- Location: MNS HQ - Auditorium
Hokkaido is Japan's northernmost main island, and is notoriously known as Japan's wild frontier. Prevailing northerly winter winds results in a weather here that is more Arctic than temperate.
It is famous for its hordes of Whooper Swans, and the famous Red-crowned Cranes of east Hokkaido.
David Lai and Nina Cheung visited Hokkaido in December 2014 to look for Hokkaido's Stellar's Sea-eagle, White-tailed Sea-eagle, Red-crowned Cranes, Blakiston's Fish Owl as well as some East Asian endemics. Altogether, they saw a total of 48 species.
Come and listen to their experiences of sightseeing and birding in sub-zero conditions and lodging at birdguides' home-stays.
All are welcome (including non-members) and admission is free (no prior registration required). For queries, contact Lim Wai Kong (012-3935189, firstname.lastname@example.org).
